West Plains Civic Center

Civic Center

The West Plains Civic Center was laid in March of 1993. The grand opening was excellent with a turnout of around 3,000 people attending and all comments were very positive. The Board of Directors President, Dr. Marvin Fowler said everyone he spoke with was impressed with the facility which features a large arena, theatre, five meeting rooms, a one-eighth mile indoor track and collegiate-size indoor pool. Greater West Plains Area Chamber of Commerce Ambassador David Parrott told the Quill he had been hearing positive compliments all over town. The Civic Center is still used today as a landmark for quality entertainment, education, culture and athletic events. The West Plains Civic Center is an impressive piece of architecture with over 30,000 square feet of exhibit space. The arena is also home of the Southwest Missouri State University Grizzly Basketball and Lady Grizzly Volleyball teams.
